Get a USG Thyroid / Neck scan at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — evaluates the thyroid gland for nodules, goitre, cysts, cancer, and assesses cervical lymph nodes. Pairs with thyroid blood tests for complete assessment. Same-day radiologist-reviewed report.
Thyroid Ultrasound creates detailed images of the thyroid gland and surrounding neck structures. It is used to characterise thyroid nodules, evaluate goitre, detect cysts and cancer, and assess cervical lymph nodes. Nodules are graded by features (TIRADS) to estimate malignancy risk and guide whether a biopsy (FNAC) is needed. Often paired with thyroid blood tests.
Size, number, solid/cystic, TIRADS grade
Diffuse or multinodular enlargement of the thyroid
Simple or complex — usually benign
TIRADS-4/5 features warrant FNAC biopsy
Reactive or pathological neck nodes
Diffusely altered echotexture in autoimmune thyroiditis
First-line imaging for any thyroid swelling
Especially with goitre or autoimmune disease
Surveillance in selected high-risk cases
First-line non-invasive imaging
To assess gland anatomy before surgery
To monitor remnant tissue and lymph nodes
Persistent neck-node enlargement
Characteristic ultrasound pattern
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| Right Lobe | Size and volume | Lab-reported normals |
| Left Lobe | Size and volume | Lab-reported normals |
| Isthmus | Thickness | < 5 mm |
| Echotexture | Homogeneous or coarse | Homogeneous (normal) |
| Nodules / Cysts | Number, size, characteristics, TIRADS | If present, graded TIRADS 1–5 |
| Cervical Lymph Nodes | Size, shape, hilum | Reactive vs pathological |
Normal-size, homogeneous-echotexture thyroid with no nodules, cysts, or pathological nodes. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
Nodules are graded TIRADS 1–5 — high-risk grades and certain features (microcalcifications, irregular margins, taller-than-wide) prompt FNAC biopsy. Goitre or thyroiditis correlate with thyroid blood tests. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
