Overview

About the USG Thyroid Scan in Goregaon West

Thyroid Ultrasound creates detailed images of the thyroid gland and surrounding neck structures. It is used to characterise thyroid nodules, evaluate goitre, detect cysts and cancer, and assess cervical lymph nodes. Nodules are graded by features (TIRADS) to estimate malignancy risk and guide whether a biopsy (FNAC) is needed. Often paired with thyroid blood tests.

Understanding Your USG Thyroid Scan Results

Within Normal Range

Normal-size, homogeneous-echotexture thyroid with no nodules, cysts, or pathological nodes. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.

Outside Reference Range

Nodules are graded TIRADS 1–5 — high-risk grades and certain features (microcalcifications, irregular margins, taller-than-wide) prompt FNAC biopsy. Goitre or thyroiditis correlate with thyroid blood tests. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.

Pathologist Reviewed

Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.

Follow-up Tests Available

If further evaluation is needed — Thyroid Profile (TSH, T3, T4), Anti-TPO, FNAC Biopsy, Thyroid Scan, Calcitonin (medullary cancer) — all available at the Goregaon West centre.

Note: Image quality depends on neck habitus and operator. Tiny nodules (under 5 mm) are usually monitored, not biopsied. Always pair thyroid USG with thyroid blood tests for a complete picture.
