Overview

About the Arterial Doppler Test in Goregaon West

Arterial Doppler uses ultrasound to map blood flow through the arteries of both legs (or both arms). It detects peripheral arterial disease (PAD), atherosclerotic narrowing, occlusion, aneurysm, and post-bypass patency. The Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) is calculated to grade severity. Especially important in diabetics with foot wounds, smokers, and patients with claudication (calf pain on walking).

Result Interpretation

Understanding Your Arterial Doppler Test Results

Within Normal Range

Normal ABI (0.91–1.30) and triphasic flow waveforms throughout suggest no significant arterial disease. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.

Outside Reference Range

Reduced ABI, monophasic flow, or stenosis above 50% needs vascular surgery review. Calcified arteries (ABI above 1.40) in diabetics may need toe-brachial index instead. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.

Pathologist Reviewed

Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.

Follow-up Tests Available

If further evaluation is needed — CT / MR Angiography, Toe-Brachial Index, HbA1c, Lipid Profile, Vascular-Surgery Consult — all available at the Goregaon West centre.

Note: Severely calcified arteries in long-standing diabetes can falsely raise ABI — a toe-brachial index (TBI) is more reliable in this case. Always interpret with clinical findings.
