Get an Arterial Doppler scan of both limbs at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — non-invasive imaging that detects peripheral arterial disease (PAD), atherosclerotic blockages, claudication, and diabetic vasculopathy. Same-day radiologist-reviewed report.
Arterial Doppler uses ultrasound to map blood flow through the arteries of both legs (or both arms). It detects peripheral arterial disease (PAD), atherosclerotic narrowing, occlusion, aneurysm, and post-bypass patency. The Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) is calculated to grade severity. Especially important in diabetics with foot wounds, smokers, and patients with claudication (calf pain on walking).
Atherosclerotic narrowing — graded mild / moderate / severe / occlusion
Calcified, narrowed arteries common in long-standing diabetes
Sudden cold, painful, pulseless limb — emergency
Popliteal or femoral artery aneurysms
Flow assessment after intervention
Especially in young smokers with limb ischaemia
Classic symptom of PAD — relieves with rest
Mandatory before any procedure on diabetic foot
PAD risk strongly linked to smoking
Suggestive of acute or chronic ischaemia
Pulsatile mass in groin or behind knee
Mapping for bypass or angioplasty planning
After bypass / stent — periodic Doppler
To assess perfusion adequacy
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| ABI Normal | Ankle-Brachial Index | 0.91–1.30 |
| Mild PAD | Mild reduction | 0.71–0.90 |
| Moderate PAD | Symptomatic PAD | 0.41–0.70 |
| Severe PAD | Critical limb ischaemia risk | < 0.40 |
| Calcified Arteries | Common in diabetes | ABI > 1.40 (suspect) |
| Stenosis Grade | Per-segment narrowing | Mild < 50% / Moderate 50–69% / Severe 70–99% / Occlusion |
Normal ABI (0.91–1.30) and triphasic flow waveforms throughout suggest no significant arterial disease. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
Reduced ABI, monophasic flow, or stenosis above 50% needs vascular surgery review. Calcified arteries (ABI above 1.40) in diabetics may need toe-brachial index instead. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
If further evaluation is needed — CT / MR Angiography, Toe-Brachial Index, HbA1c, Lipid Profile, Vascular-Surgery Consult — all available at the Goregaon West centre.
