Get a confidential HIV 1+2 antibody screening test at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — used for routine screening, antenatal care, pre-employment, after possible exposure, and as part of pre-surgery workup. Counselling on request. Same-day report. 24×7 home collection.
The HIV 1+2 antibody screening test detects antibodies to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (types 1 and 2) — the standard first-line screen. A reactive (positive) screen requires confirmation via a second method (Western blot or HIV-RNA / 4th-generation Combo). Modern 4th-generation assays detect both p24 antigen and antibodies and shorten the window period to 2–4 weeks. All results are handled with strict confidentiality.
Recommended at least once for all adults; annually for those at higher risk
Routine in early pregnancy — enables interventions to prevent vertical transmission
After unprotected exposure, needle-stick injury, contaminated tools
Often part of routine workups, especially for healthcare workers
Mandatory before blood donation
Persistent fever, weight loss, opportunistic infections
WHO recommends at least one HIV test for every adult
Routine antenatal screen
Pre-employment and after needle-stick exposure
Especially with new or unknown-status partner
Closely associated infections — joint screening recommended
Mandatory before donation
Periodic screening due to needle-sharing risk
Confidential periodic screening recommended
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| Non-Reactive (Negative) | No HIV antibodies detected | Below assay cut-off |
| Reactive (Positive) | Antibodies detected — needs confirmation | Above assay cut-off |
| Window Period (3rd-gen) | Time before antibodies appear | 3–12 weeks |
| Window Period (4th-gen Combo) | Detects p24 antigen + antibody | 2–4 weeks |
| Confirmation | Required after reactive screen | HIV Western Blot or HIV-RNA |
A non-reactive (negative) HIV screen is reassuring. After possible exposure, repeat at 3 and 6 months to cover the window period. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
A reactive (positive) screen always needs confirmation with a different test method before any clinical conclusion. Counselling and confidential follow-up are advised before and after testing. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
