Get a TMT (Treadmill Stress Test) at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — a cardiologist-supervised exercise ECG that detects coronary artery disease, exercise-induced arrhythmias, and assesses fitness. Approximately 30–45 minutes including recovery. Same-day cardiologist-reviewed report.
The Treadmill Stress Test (TMT) records ECG, blood pressure, and heart rate while you walk at progressively increasing speed and incline (Bruce protocol). It is used to detect coronary artery disease (CAD), evaluate exertional chest pain, identify exercise-induced arrhythmias, assess fitness, and risk-stratify after a heart attack. The test is supervised by a cardiologist and is stopped if significant ECG changes, symptoms, or BP changes occur.
ST-segment changes during exercise — sensitive screen for significant blockages
Reproduces chest pain under controlled, monitored conditions
Detects abnormal rhythms triggered only by exertion
METs achieved indicate functional capacity and prognosis
Performed weeks after a heart attack to guide further treatment
BP rise above 220/110 on exertion may indicate poor BP control
Classic indication — to confirm or rule out angina
Risk-factor-positive patients with atypical chest pain
Especially before non-cardiac surgery in patients with risk factors
To monitor residual ischaemia and guide rehabilitation
Silent ischaemia screen
Functional capacity (METs) assessment
If clinic BP is borderline but exercise BP rises sharply
Especially in symptomatic individuals
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| Negative TMT | No ischaemic ECG changes / target HR achieved | Reassuring |
| Positive TMT | ≥ 1 mm horizontal/down-sloping ST depression | Suggests CAD |
| Strongly Positive | Early-stage / multiple-lead ST changes | Refer for angiography |
| Inconclusive | Could not reach 85% target HR | May need imaging stress test |
| Functional Capacity | METs achieved | > 10 METs = excellent |
| Heart Rate Recovery | Fall in HR 1 min after stop | > 12 bpm = normal |
Negative TMT with achievement of target heart rate (85% of age-predicted max) is reassuring. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
Positive or strongly positive TMT requires cardiologist review and consideration of further testing — coronary CT angiography or invasive angiography. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
