Get a USG KUB (Kidney, Ureter, Bladder) at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — non-invasive imaging for kidney stones, hydronephrosis, kidney size in chronic kidney disease, and bladder pathology. Full bladder required. Same-day radiologist-reviewed report.
USG KUB is a focused ultrasound of the urinary tract — kidneys, ureters, and bladder. It is the first-line imaging for renal colic, suspected stones, hydronephrosis, urinary infection workup, and chronic kidney disease assessment. Provides kidney size, cortex thickness, presence of stones (typically > 5 mm), hydronephrosis grade, bladder wall, and post-void residual volume. Full bladder is essential.
Stones above 5 mm reliably detected; smaller may need CT
Dilated collecting system from obstruction — graded I–IV
Simple cysts (Bosniak I) are common and benign
Small, echogenic kidneys with thin cortex suggest CKD
Wall thickening, masses, stones, urinary retention
Before urological surgery or PCNL
First-line imaging for suspected stone
To detect underlying structural cause
Especially with obstructive symptoms
Annual surveillance
Especially in young patients — to rule out renovascular causes
Blood in urine — kidney/bladder evaluation
Bladder retention, post-void residual measurement
Often included in wellness package
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| Right Kidney | Size, cortex, calculi, hydronephrosis | 9–12 cm length |
| Left Kidney | Size, cortex, calculi, hydronephrosis | 9–12 cm length |
| Cortical Thickness | Indicator of kidney health | > 1 cm (normal) |
| Ureters | Visible only when dilated | Not normally seen |
| Bladder | Wall, content, masses | Smooth wall, anechoic content |
| Post-Void Residual | Voiding efficiency | < 50 ml (normal) |
Normal-size kidneys, no stones, no hydronephrosis, normal cortex and bladder are reassuring. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
Findings such as stones, hydronephrosis, cortical thinning, or bladder masses need clinical correlation, KFT, and possibly CT urography or cystoscopy. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
If further evaluation is needed — Non-Contrast CT KUB, KFT, Urine Routine + Culture, Urine Microalbumin, IVU, MR Urography — all available at the Goregaon West centre.
