Overview

About the USG KUB Scan in Goregaon West

USG KUB is a focused ultrasound of the urinary tract — kidneys, ureters, and bladder. It is the first-line imaging for renal colic, suspected stones, hydronephrosis, urinary infection workup, and chronic kidney disease assessment. Provides kidney size, cortex thickness, presence of stones (typically > 5 mm), hydronephrosis grade, bladder wall, and post-void residual volume. Full bladder is essential.

Understanding Your USG KUB Scan Results

Within Normal Range

Normal-size kidneys, no stones, no hydronephrosis, normal cortex and bladder are reassuring. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.

Outside Reference Range

Findings such as stones, hydronephrosis, cortical thinning, or bladder masses need clinical correlation, KFT, and possibly CT urography or cystoscopy. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.

Pathologist Reviewed

Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.

Follow-up Tests Available

If further evaluation is needed — Non-Contrast CT KUB, KFT, Urine Routine + Culture, Urine Microalbumin, IVU, MR Urography — all available at the Goregaon West centre.

Note: Stones smaller than 5 mm may not be reliably seen on USG. Non-contrast CT KUB is the gold standard if USG is inconclusive in suspected stones. Bowel gas can obscure ureters.
