The Triple Marker Test is a second-trimester maternal blood test done between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. It measures three markers — AFP (Alpha-Fetoprotein), Free β-hCG, and unconjugated Estriol (uE3) — to screen for Down syndrome (T21), trisomy 18, and open neural-tube defects (NTDs) such as spina bifida. Used when first-trimester screening was not done. Quadruple marker (with inhibin-A added) gives slightly higher accuracy.
