Get a Mammography or Sonomammography at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — the gold-standard breast cancer screening test for women, used for routine screening (40+), evaluation of breast lumps, and follow-up after treatment. Same-day radiologist-reviewed report.
Mammography is a low-dose X-ray imaging of the breasts, the international gold standard for breast cancer screening in women aged 40+. Sonomammography adds breast ultrasound, particularly useful in dense breast tissue (common in younger Indian women). Both are used for screening, evaluation of palpable lumps, nipple discharge, and post-treatment follow-up. The combined approach detects cancers at the smallest, most treatable stage.
Detects masses, microcalcifications, architectural distortion before they are felt
Distinguishes cyst from solid mass, characterises features
Especially bloody — workup with mammography + ductography if needed
Sonomammography especially useful in dense breasts
After breast cancer treatment for recurrence detection
BRCA carriers and strong family history — earlier and more frequent
Annual or 2-yearly screening recommended
Standard first-line evaluation alongside ultrasound
Especially spontaneous, blood-stained, single-duct
Earlier screening starting age 30–35 in high-risk women
Sonomammography adds value in younger women with dense breasts
Annual surveillance
MRI + mammography combined screening from age 25–30
Follow-up after a previous abnormal screen
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| BIRADS 1 | Negative — no abnormality | Routine screening |
| BIRADS 2 | Benign findings | Routine screening |
| BIRADS 3 | Probably benign | Short-interval (6 month) follow-up |
| BIRADS 4 | Suspicious | Biopsy recommended |
| BIRADS 5 | Highly suspicious for malignancy | Biopsy + further workup |
| BIRADS 0 | Incomplete | Additional imaging needed |
BIRADS 1 or 2 means no concerning finding — return to routine screening interval. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
BIRADS 3 needs short-interval follow-up; BIRADS 4 and 5 require biopsy. Reports always include the BIRADS category and clear next steps. Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
