Get a 2D Echocardiography (2D Echo) cardiac ultrasound at VRX Diagno Lounge, Goregaon West — a non-invasive scan that measures heart pumping function (ejection fraction), valve health, and structural abnormalities. Painless, radiation-free, takes 20–30 minutes. Same-day cardiologist-reviewed report.
2D Echocardiography is an ultrasound scan of the heart that produces real-time moving images of the heart muscle, chambers, valves, and great vessels. It measures ejection fraction (EF) — the heart's pumping efficiency — and detects valve disease, congenital defects, cardiomyopathy, pericardial effusion, and clots. It is non-invasive, radiation-free, and painless. Performed by a cardiologist or trained technician using a gel and probe over the chest.
Measures ejection fraction — under 50% suggests reduced pumping function
Stenosis or regurgitation of mitral, aortic, tricuspid, pulmonary valves
Dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive types — assessed by chamber size and wall thickness
Fluid around the heart — detects and measures size
VSD, ASD, PDA, and complex defects in adults and children
Looks for clots in the left atrium / appendage in stroke workup
Especially when worsening — to rule out heart failure or valve disease
Combined with ECG, helps assess heart structure and function
Standard next test to characterise the murmur
To assess left ventricular hypertrophy and function
Periodic check for silent cardiomyopathy
Before major non-cardiac surgery in older or symptomatic patients
Selected screening — especially for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
To assess residual function and complications
| Parameter | What It Measures | Reference Range |
|---|---|---|
| Ejection Fraction (EF) | Pumping efficiency of left ventricle | 55–70% (normal) |
| Mildly Reduced EF | Early systolic dysfunction | 40–54% |
| Heart Failure (Reduced EF) | Significant systolic dysfunction | < 40% |
| Valve Gradients (Mitral / Aortic) | Pressure across valves | < 20 mm Hg (normal) |
| Pericardial Effusion | Fluid around heart | None / minimal |
| Chamber Sizes | LV diameter, LA size | Lab-reported normals |
Normal chamber sizes, EF 55–70%, intact valves, and no effusion suggest healthy heart structure and function. Continue routine yearly screening if you have risk factors.
Reduced EF, valve abnormalities, hypertrophy, or effusion need cardiology follow-up — often with stress test, holter, or further imaging (TEE, MRI). Your physician will correlate with symptoms and history.
Every report is reviewed by an experienced pathologist with clear interpretation and clinical comment.
If further evaluation is needed — ECG, Stress Test (TMT), Holter, BNP/NT-proBNP, Coronary CT, Cardiac MRI — all available at the Goregaon West centre.
